EMMA’s – Nominate Go Native for Corporate Housing Provider of the Year

Global Mobility is a $500 billion business employing tens of thousands of people and impacting the working life of millions. The Forum for Expatriate Management (FEM) is hosting the first ever EMMAs (Expatriate Management and Mobility Awards) in London on November 15 and in New York on October 4 as part of the FEM Global Mobility Summits.   It will celebrate who are the stars of the profession and which service providers are most likely to be recommended by their clients.

Operating a Leased Apartment Portfolio

Renting one or more Leased Apartments offers a corporate client competitively priced accommodation for their employees with security of tenure.

For the Long Term relocation of employees, a company typically would contract with a property’s Landlord in their own company name or that of their relocating employee(s). Using a Corporate Housing Specialist means that a company can contract this out to the Specialist who instead puts it into their name.

The Corporate Housing Specialist will also fully manage the Leased Apartment contract process including the Lease negotiations with the Landlord and delivery of all the related services including utilities, local taxes, cable/ satellite, telephone, housekeeping such as cleaning and linen provision.

In addition, the Corporate Housing Specialist can help to set-up and run for the client a Dedicated Lease Portfolio of multiple units to provide accommodation for employee’s short stays which might be for days, weeks or months.

Considerations
Among the things to consider when evaluating Leased Apartment costs are:

  • Length of Lease
    Typically a tenant’s break clause of 30 days after 5 months is negotiated, meaning that the minimum lease period is 6 months.
  • Deposit
    Whilst usually 6 weeks, the Corporate Housing specialist will in the first instance seek the Landlord’s agreement to the use of a Letter of Indemnity rather than a deposit.
  • Agency fees
    Usually two week’s rent, but can sometimes be negotiated down.

We have had a very busy past couple of months here at Go Native with sponsoring, exhibiting and attending industry events.  Here is a round up for you:

The Totally Expat Show targets global mobility professionals and expatriates with essential information and advice on services available to support them in meeting the challenges and opportunities of living and working outside their home country,  http://expo.totallyexpat.com/.

We were a Gold Sponsor for the event.  Alongside an exhibition stand with all our new material we got people talking with our selection of fantastic Go Native branded cupcakes.  Guy co-presented a seminar titled, “Managing Housing Costs as part of a Corporate Housing Program”, with Caroline Thorley-Farrer, Global Mobility Director of Atos Origin and David Carmichael, Global Staff Mobility Manager at Logica PLC.  The slides can be viewed on our website, please click here.   Plus, we ran 2 competitions on the day:

Go Native Sponsors The Business Travel Club Summer Party (8th June 2010)
The Business Travel Show http://www.businesstravelshow.com/ has set up Social and Networking Club called The Business Travel Club  http://www.thebusinesstravelclub.com/-  a regular social and networking event open to anyone involved in the business travel industry. The club is there for individuals to keep up to date, share the latest industry developments, meet with like-minded professionals and create and maintain national and international networks – all within an informal setting whilst enjoying a couple of complimentary drinks.

We sponsored the last party in Butlers Wharf, London and from what I hear it was a fun night with plenty of sociable drinks!

Go Native – Exhibits at the Business Travel Market (16th & 17th June 2010)
The Business Travel Market -  describes itself as the only corporate travel event in the UK that offers a fully hosted buyer programme to European corporate travel decision makers spending over €300,000 per annum.  http://www.businesstravelmarket.co.uk/

Go Native Raises Money for Cancer Research

Go Native Takes Part in the Race for Life -  Saturday 22nd May

A group of lovely ladies from Go Native got training and worked hard to raise money for the Race for Life 5k Charity run for Cancer Research.   Despite the blazing heat the team completed the 5k course in  an average of 45 minutes.   We think our ladies looked particularly pretty in pink (tutus!)

So, well done to; Bella Peacock, Debbie Coshan, Samantha McKnight, Sally Dickinson, Wendy Teymourian, Sue Pietosi, Eugenie Nixon, Ceire Gormley and Sam Richardson.

Plus, Deborah Heap, Gemma Thornton and Hannah Philips will be taking part in a race local to Manchester later this month.  Good luck and happy training!
